KAI LIEKEFETT is a partner in the New York M&A group and leads Sidley’s shareholder activism practice. He has more than 15 years of experience in corporate law in New York, Houston, London, Germany, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Kai focuses his practice on advising companies on proxy contests, withhold-the-vote and other shareholder activism campaigns. Kai was recognized in the 2017 edition of Chambers USA as one of only six leading attorneys for Corporate/M&A: Takeover Defense. In the last two years alone, Kai has been involved in more than 20 proxy contests, more than any other defense attorney in the country. Prior to joining Sidley, Kai was a partner at another global law firm, where he founded and led a prominently ranked shareholder activism practice. Kai is fluent in German.
